Second hand/vintage shopping is one of my guilty pleasures. There are some old hidden treasures in every wardrobe and the older and weirder they are the better! I’m frequently visiting the local second hand shops in Borås and Gothenburg, but today I’m going to tell you about my favourite shops in my old neighborhood in Brisbane – Paddington! Reduce the waste of earth’s resources and look like a cool cat with your unique clothes. My recommendations in this post are only based on my opinion about the products offered rather than the organisations’ missions and strategic plans.

A cozy second hand shop with both clothes and interior. I used to do weekly inspections here looking for gems to show up. Quality and price differ a lot from time to time, but that’s the rule of second hand. Timing is the key!

Stuff. So much stuff. Stuff you haven’t seen in a decade. Stuff you didn’t know existed. Here you can find the ugly garden gnome you’ve been looking everywhere for, those plates your grandmother inherited from her mother and of course a huge pineapple. It’s one the verge of hoarding, but in a very positive way.

Retro Metro is a vintage clothing store with a lot of quirky and lovable clothes. Furthest into the store you’ll find the formal wear and I’ve promised myself I can treat myself with one of the dresses for my next banquet.
29/31 Latrobe Terrace, Paddington QLD 4064, Australia
Era, style and size of the wallet don’t matter. All kind of clothing can be found here. On the ground floor you have the second hand, but in the basement you’ll find the all the vintage.
Ra Ra Superstar
284 Given Terrace, Paddington QLD 4064, Australia
“Life’s too short for boring clothes”.
A great motto from a store where the word boring doesn’t exist. Even the socks are fun! Yeah, I guess you understand why I love this place. The price is a little bit higher at Ra Ra Superstar which is fair because of the vintage and locally handmade clothing.
In Paddington you might bump into baby goats outside of Wollies. Nothing weird about this at all.
All of the second hand and vintage stores mentioned above are in the same area and within walking distance from each other. This is where you’ll find me on a Friday afternoon!
