Hi everyone! Monday is almost over and this week is already feeling a lot better than the last. In Brisbane we are going to have rain and grey weather the whole week, but I don’t mind. I’m used to survive this weather for months. We had the opposite weather during the first weekend of March. The weekend unofficially started during my lunch stroll on the Friday. The plants and flowers were looking amazing as usual. I’m so happy all the neighbours in Albion are so good at maintaining their gardens. I always feel so much more relaxed and happy enjoying the gardens (maybe because I don’t have one myself?).
Catching the train in the morning from South Brisbane to Albion. I actually enjoy the train ride, it’s a great way to relax before starting the work day.
Walking past this untamed tree which doesn’t let concrete keep it down.
I also always pass this painting during my lunch break at work. It reminds me that I’ll hopefully soon be able to go back to Sweden and see everyone again. It’s been too long now and I have never been this homesick ever. I need some Swedish forest, lakes, moose, cinnamon buns and snus. Oh!
Since I had borrowed Jarryd’s car, I promised I would come and pick him up after work on Friday. I made it to Teneriffe and yes, I still hate driving in Brisbane (maybe in general?). A couple of weeks ago I accidentally scratched the company car and it was a super stressed Lily with tears in her eyes who called the director to tell him about the poor office car. Even though he was super chill about it, I couldn’t stop feeling so embarrassed. Maybe it’s because you’re supposed to be good at driving after owning a divers license for more than 10 years? Anyways, I survive the drive and picked Jarryd up. He drove home 🙂
Minding Her Business arranged an International Women’s Day event on Sunday since the IWD 2021 was on Monday the 8th. It was held at the Lussh in the Gabba and I decided to put my walking shoes on and do a morning stroll to the event.
The event started with pilates and meditation. I bet the camera man got some really nice shots of my nose hair while I was doing the awful situps. Afterwards there was a lot of networking which was nice.
I also won the raffle in the middle of getting my hair braided. A couples massage workshop. Woho!
Get ready, Jarryd! We’ll be communicating non-verbally like pros soon.
I did the same walk home when the event was over. When I took a photo of this awesome piano, I realised I had forgotten my keys at home (self-locking door woho!). Jarryd was in New South Wales helping friends moving a house and wouldn’t be home until late in the afternoon. I sat down in South Brisbane on the lawn sweaty, tired and angry. I was considering booking a hotel room for the night just to have somewhere to stay until Jarryd would show up. After browsing Booking.com and checking my bank account, I decided I would spend the time for almost free at the library instead.
I was looking happy for the selfie with my newly braided hair.
Spent a loooong time in the library café and promised myself I will always double-check that my keys are in the bag before leaving the apartment. So far I haven’t forgotten the keys again, yay!
When Jarryd called me and told me he was back in town, I quickly drank my second flat white and ran home. We were both tired decided to leave the laundry for the Monday instead. Sometimes you’re allowed to skip laundry day 🙂
For the actual International Women’s Day, I arranged for my work team to participate in the IWD 2021 campaign called #ChooseToChallenge. We were raising our hands to challenge inequality and gender bias. A very important cause and something everyone should think about on a daily basis.
Hope all of you had a great first weekend of March and an awesome International Women’s Day!
